Today Betty and I went to a party supply store to get some balloons and cards to celebrate my mother's birthday. We picked out two great balloons. The first one had a crescent moon on the front and it said "Happy Birthday". The other side of the balloon had a sun on it. PERFECT!
The second balloon said, "Birthdays aren't about age, they are about ATTITUDE! I saw that and felt that was a perfect fit for my mother!
Betty and I were there for dinner. My mother did a great job eating! She had a crab cake, mixed vegtables and french fries. She ate the most tonight then she had since Thursday!
After we got back to her room, Betty and I read our birthday cards to her then we presented her 'cake' to her. As we showed her cake to her we also sang Happy Birthday to her!!!!!!!! :)
I am going to visit with her for a few hours now, until I have to get back on the plane. :(
I am hoping to see my mother once a month, but my mother would like to come up for Adyson's birthday (Feb. 22nd).

Nov 22 'breakfast club'
A late good morning to you all.
I arrived at my mother's facility around 7am today. She was just waking. She was ready to get cleaned up, dressed and eat breakfast. With the help of the CNA (certified nurse's aide) we were rollin down the halls around 750am.
Since we had a late start we had the dining hall all to ourselves. My mother had eggs, bacon, oatmeal and juice. She did a good job of using the new strategies that Nick have showed her.
After breakfast we waited patiently for therapy to begin. My mother worked with the 'weekend' therapists (Sarah and Amy). They worked on standing and did some walking. Both therapists told my mother that she has progressed from the last time they saw her (the last two weekends).
Once therapy was complete my mother and I had some inspiring conversations....about when I leave and how important she is to me, her sisters, her family, cats, friends....and I think her and I are on the same page with OUR expectations!
She should be still napping at this time. Lunch is soon so I will be updating the blog after we eat!
