9:11pm watching the World Series and my mother sleep.....priceless.
I'm so proud of her. She is amazing, for all that she is dealing with and to still have the ability to shoot her sarcastic comments makes me KNOW that she will pull through this.
I am already looking forward to seeing her on November 20th! I'm curious to see how much she will have progressed with her therapy!
Just as I thought my mother was ASLEEP......she asks me, 'who's winning'? Here she is talking about the World Series.....I told her that the Rays are winning 3-0 and she says, 'and Philly is supposed to be that much better then them'......
My mother is SIMPLY AMAZING!
I LOVE YOU MOM!

Oct 23rd 'big day'
It's 1:11pm and my mother is snoring and she has good reason to......
At 7:30am both Dr. Boyer and Clulow were in to see her.
Shortly after that, breakfast arrived.
After we finished breakfast, Jody from OT came in. She worked with my mother on her vision and some other coordination exercises.
Once OT was done, ST (speech therapy) came in and worked with my mother to strengthen her throat, tongue and cheek muscles.
Once therapy was complete, we got my mother into a wheelchair to take a ride outside.....no sooner did we do that, another nurse showed up with orders for Dr. Clulow to get a chest x-ray done.
After the x-ray we remained in the wheelchair and FINALLY got outside.
Once we were outside, Betty met us with Colin (one of the two cats that live with my mother/aunt Betty).
My mother was happy to see and pet Colin.....she called him a 'manly man'....samething she used to call Marz (her cat when she first moved to FL). Colin, consequently 'meowed' back to my mother!
My mother enjoyed the warm breeze of South Florida. When we came back to her room, lunch was nearly around the corner.
As you can imagine, after lunch my mother was out like a light!

Oct 23rd 'escorted by a Dr.'
As I entered the hospital and began down the hall, I literally almost ran into Dr. Boyer (neurosurgeon). He was on his way up to see other patients but he invited me to walk with him.
We discussed the rehab options for my mother. Once we got to the 4th floor, he told me that he'd be down to see my mother shortly.
After I gently woke my mother, her and I talked a bit. Dr. Clulow (family Dr.) arrived to evaluate my mother. I talked extensively with him about rehab options and the status of my mother.
After speaking with both Dr's I have decided that my mother will begin her rehabilitation at Bradenton Health Care on Cortez road.
Hopefully today we will progress with rehabilitation in the hospital (wheelchair ride, face/mouth exercises, sitting/standing and a cognitive survey).
Stay tuned!
