Time for me to get back to Ironwood Circle (my mother and Betty's condo location) because since my mother moved down one floor she is sharing a room with another patient 'June'.
With that said, there is less room for me to sleep, plus I still need to eat dinner......but it's ALL WORTH IT, sitting here watching my mother ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ away!
See you in the morning 'MOON'!

Oct 17th MOVEMENT!
The nurse was in to take my mother's vital signs. My mother was able to move both her eyes at the sametime! GREAT JOB!
My mother also moved her RIGHT foot/leg slightly!
My mother was able to ask me about Dr. Boyer, tell me she was hungry and ask me if she had, had a stroke.
I LOVE YOU MOM!

October 20th 1:00pm
At some point this morning my mother will move down a floor! YEAAAAH! The OT (occupational therapist) and PT (physical therapist) will be met with my mother at 1pm today.
The results were OUTSTANDING! My mother (with some assistance) was able to support herself (balance) to sit on the edge of her bed. She also stood up (with assistance). This is great news! Obviously she was 'worn out' after the 10-15 session, but it just goes to show how STRONG of a woman my mother is!

Oct 20th Lunch and Dr. Boyer
Mom had turkey, spinach and mashed potatoes for lunch. For dessert she enjoyed peaches and chocolate pudding. Guess which dessert she enjoyed more........
I met with Dr. Boyer this afternoon. He is an exceptional doctor and a personable human being. He says that my mother still is able to lift her RIGHT leg off the bed and move her RIGHT arm from her shoulder. He will continue to monitor my mother once she moves off the ICU floor. He was kind enough to draw a diagram of my mother's procedure.

Due to the nature of my mother's situation, the muscles in her mouth and neck are weak. Therefore, she needs to re-learn how to chew and swallow her food. As I've posted before she is only allow to eat puree style food.
Around 2:20 today she moved down to the 4th floor (neuro/heart unit). Even before she was settled, she was carted down to the 1st floor. Here she underwent tests to ensure she is/was able to eat safely.
As she ate the food, she was being x-rayed so that the specialist, could see if the food was going down her esophogus or wind tube

Oct 20th 'GREAT JOB'
So today was my mother's SECOND PT (physical therapy) session!
Betty was witness to this great moment!
Eric and Jody from therapy took some baseline measurements then assisted my mother is sitting up. They then asked her to 'hold herself up' by balancing on the bed with BOTH ARMS!!!!!! She did it! It wasn't long or easy but SHE DID IT!
After a few minutes they helped her stand. This took more energy from my mother but she did it too! Now understand both therapists were holding her. One was helping/holding her legs and the other with her upper torso.......BUT STILL SHE DID IT.....
It was a great moment!
Of couse almost immediately afterward she was ready for 'rest'!
